CHHASE believe education is not only a fundamental right, but it is the most powerful catalyst for human development: children with even the most basic levels of education have better life options, earning potential and health, and raise healthier children.
Strategy
Based on the child rights and the non negotiable, all children should attend formal school as a matter of right. CHHASE has been working towards abolition of child labor in hazardous, non-hazardous, invisible forms and mainstreaming them into formal schools, for nearly six years. From its humble beginning in 2005, it has now spread its philosophy far and wide. It seeks to address the rights of the entire world of children, both in school and out of school, in the 5 to 14 years age group in its operation.
CHHASE approach deems all children out of school are child labor and out of School harms the overall growth and development of child. Our approach ensures that the children attending school reaches class 10 and they should not join child labor force again until completing 14 years of age.
To make sure, that every child attend school follows area-based approach and seeks to prepare the community for public action and pressure on the system to deliver services.
Village Panchayats
According to 73rd amendment to the constitution of India and its 29 lists, The village panchayats are to take up the twin tasks of abolition of child labor, strengthening of schools, are must review, monitor and support all child related institutions. This will help them to participate, take up the responsibility of abolishing of child labor through globalization of elementary school education at village level. They can prevent school drop-out by their involvement in the function of school and supporting the school committees.
They can able to mobilize local resources for the school and also generate resources by bringing pressure on the highest-level education bureaucracy.
Youth
The youth always view obstacles faced by them during the process of achieving their goals as challenges rather than difficulties. They can with their exuberance in involving themselves in activities completely, at various levels, deems them as an important part of the System.
Panchayat protection force
CHHASE would form PPF in order to abolish the child labor practice, within their region. It will comprising personnel from womens SHGs, youth associations, traders and socially concerned individuals. It will ensure child labor free region.
Activities are:
Teachers
School teachers can play an important role in abolishing child labor in their Panchayats. They have good response where they work. More ever each school has got a teachers and parents associations. Panchayat board president, H.M, and other important leaders are in the committee and parents are as its members.Teachers can list out the drop-outs, put up in the PTA meetings and ask them to take necessary steps to send them to school
Teachers activities include:
Parents
Rural families and poor parents are seen their children as assets and as extra wage earners. However, a child that works instead of going to school will perpetuate the cycle of poverty by growing into adult without an education.
Child labor is accepted by society and perpetuated by traditional attitudes-entrenched notions of caste dictate that child from lower caste families are expected to work rather than go to school. Poverty and caste status are easy explanations for child labor- the truth is more complex, the children work because the schools around them are not affordable or because school is not stimulating.
Apart from all the facts, one must understand as to why children go for work. The poor parents feel children are their main assets and they have to earn for the home to fight for their daily needs.
